Poetry of The First World War November 2026

12 November 2026

As we say a fond farewell to summer, we look ahead to our next Poetry Hour at the British Library.

On Thursday 12th November, we will welcome a fabulous cast of actors to perform poetry written during and about the First World War. Expect work from some of the most enduring voices of the period, including Rupert Brooke, W.B. Yeats, Helen Mackay, Wilfred Owen, Vera Brittain, Rudyard Kipling and many more.

Through the voices of our actors, these poems will bring to life the extraordinary range of experience captured by the poets of the First World War – from youthful idealism and love to anger, grief, disillusionment and remembrance.
