Elizabeth McGovern
Elizabeth McGovern made her film debut in Robert Redford’s Oscar-winning ‘Ordinary People’. The following year she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in ‘Ragtime’. She is also acclaimed for her roles in ‘The House of Mirth’, ‘The Wings of a Dove’, and ‘The Truth’. McGovern’s theatre work includes ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Three Sisters’, ‘Hamlet’, ‘As You Like It‘ and ‘The Misanthrope’. Her many television performances include ‘Tales from the Crypt’, ‘New Hampshire’, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel‘ and ‘The Changeling’. She has starred in ‘Daphne’, ‘A Room With A View’ and the series ‘Freezing’ with Tom Hollander and Hugh Bonneville. She is also internationally loved for her role as Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, in ‘Downton Abbey’, for which she has been nominated for both an Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award.
