For World Poetry Day 2023, we marked the centenary year of poet and dramatist W.B. Yeats’ Nobel Prize Award for Literature in 1923.

Gavin Drea, actor, known for RTE Television series Love/Hate, recently starred in Wedding DayDaisy and the Six, and Viking: Valhalla. He is also an Irish Times Theatre Award nominee.

Mariella Frostrup, television and radio broadcaster, journalist, arts and film critic, was born in Norway and grew up in Ireland with a great love for literature. Here she reads Josephine Hart’s essay on Yeats’ life and work.

Bob Geldof, musician, songwriter, lead singer of The Boomtown Rats, and philanthropist, produced and presented the documentary film A Fanatic Heart: Geldof On Yeats, directed by Gerry Hoban. Bob was knighted by HM Elizabeth Il and awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France. 

Shevaun Wilder, theatre director, and filmproducer, stepped in to read when our actress fell ill. A Dubliner, her great-grandpa was Yeats’ first publisher. For Yeats2015 she produced a film, a play, a recital at the House of Lords, and a gala at the Abbey Theatre.
