Winifred Mary Letts

1882-1972

Winifred Mabel (Mary) Letts was an English born writer, living in Ireland. She wrote novels, plays and poetry. Letts trained as a masseuse and worked at army camps in Manchester during WWI. Her children’s fiction is considered some of her finest works, whilst her war poem, The Deserter, is often used in WWI poetry collections.
