Joan’s extensive credits span stage and screen and include – Everything Now (Netflix), Disclaimer (Apple TV), Too Close (ITV), Enterprice S1&2 (BBC), Black Earth Rising (BBC/NETFLIX), New Blood (BBC/NETFLIX), Denial (Netflix), Changing Destiny, Tree, A Season in a Congo (Young Vic) The Duchess of Malfi, White Devil, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Life of Galileo, Boris Godunov, Orphan of Zhao, The Roaring Girls, Arden of Faversham (RSC), They Drink It In The Congo (Almeida), Boudica, Omeros, Three Guineas (Shakespeare’s Globe), Eclipsed, The Convert, The Rise and Shine of Comrade Fiasco (Gate Theatre). Joan co-founded The Mono Box which ran from 2013-2023 and created PLAYSTART and RESET THE STAGE, and was also an Associate Company at Hampstead Theatre. Joan was an Associate Artist at Donmar Warehouse (2021-2023) where she created photography and film exhibition WE. BLACK WOMEN. She is co-founder of Apatan Productions, an award-winning production company who’s first short film DỌLÁPỌ̀ IS FINE (HBO, Netflix and Disney+) was recipient of the HBO Short Film Award and was shortlisted for a BAFTA. Her latest film MANGO premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival earlier this year and is now on its festival run.
